How is the gate latch constructed and how is it used?

The garden gate latch consists of the following components: a latch with hook and a bolt.

The latch with hook is attached to one of the two double-leaf gates or to a gate post for a normal gate. The base plate of the latch has a length of 56 mm and a width of 44.5 mm and can be installed quickly and easily using four holes with a diameter of 6 mm. The latch, which has a length of 120 mm, is attached parallel to the latch on the other double swing gate or normal gate using two holes with a diameter of 5.5 mm.
