What is the box hinge used for?
Tail hinges are used for construction of garden gates, wooden Tails & cabinet doors. The hinge ensures that the two elements are movably connected.
How is the rear hinge constructed and how is it used?
The Tail hinge has two 250 mm long wings that are movably connected with a pin. The box hinge is screwed to the back of the two components with countersunk screws. Since the 8 holes are countersunk, this allows for a flush screw connection.
Tip for building a wooden box: So that the lid lies flush on the wooden box, a small recess should be made in the width of the hinge, on the top of the box. This ensures that the lid does not rest on the hinge, but on the wooden box, thus avoiding a large gap between the two components.
